Northumberland Selection Box

Despite this month’s selection box being just layer one of several, there are plenty of castles to pack in... Who knew so many would have names beginning with A or B!

From Aydon to Bywell, this episode gives us a great insight into the importance of castles in counties far from the capital, particularly when they lie near the boarder! With lots of back and forth, and moving of country perimeters, there’s a lot to cover... so strap in for a whistle stop tour!

With several castles featuring in the story of medieval and early modern Anglo-Scottish relations, make sure to tune in to next week’s episode as well, where we will be going into more detail about the first Scottish war of Independence!

We hope you enjoy the episode, and we look forward to seeing you again next week!
